Early

Once again, I've gotten up waaay too early for school. Only one of my regular reading blogs is on the east coast, but it's too early even for them to update on a Saturday!

I just finished reading another friend's (real friend) blog about his trip to Greece. I hope we end up there for our honeymoon!! Not like there's not a million other places I'd like to go, too.

Traffic looks good, but I'm out the door! It's good to get to school early for the Starbucks and breakfast.

8/24/07

Today:

  • The first day of pre-fall! I was really stressed because last year's sessions were so tough, and the past year has been so difficult. It was not nearly as hectic as last year! I got up and left way too early. And I didn't get picked to present my paper (lucky me!), but then again, the odds were 1 in 298 (there were only 2 people I know not there). I wasn't very good at breakfast (croissant and muffin) but skipped the carbs at lunch and the afternoon sugar rush.
  • Afterwards I hung out at the pub session then went to the library with a classmate to finish and print our assignments. Neither of us have printers at home.
  • Got home and sat around a little. We made salads for dinner, and of course I made mine Mediterranean style with cucumbers, olives, and feta. I like using spinach instead of lettuce so much more. And black olives and cucumbers are such good tastes together. No matter how well I eat for dinner, I always want just a little chocolate after dinner and before bed.
  • Blog, skim my article due tomorrow, and work on my grandma's birthday present.
To Do:
  • I'm uploading pictures to Shutterfly to make an 8x8 photo book of my grandmother's birthday party. But you can only upload 10 photos at a time, and it's slow.
  • I bought 2" and 1.5" white ribbon to make ribbon roses for the vase my parents gave us as an engagement present. But, I forgot the floral wire.
  • My DMV renewal came - already! Again! Grr!
  • Book buying date with classmates tomorrow.
  • Find a nice gift for my friend who helped with my assignment. Seems like something USC would be appropriate.
  • Sort through the last few piles of stuff on my desk.
  • Charge up my laptop for Monday.
  • Blog about Alaska!
  • Read a painfully long entrepreneurship article.
  • Find some nice, long sleeved shirts I can wear to work or casually. And clogs. It's fall now!

Presents

My mom called me after class today to tell me she wanted to buy me a present. She'd been to Talbot's and saw this outfit. Cute, but I don't have anywhere to wear it, and if I did, I already have a number of outfits I'd wear.

Lately I love this bag and wallet, and in my mind they go together fantastically:

But, I have to buy my books tomorrow. And I have a number of other little expenses coming up. So, my dear bag and wallet, I will hopefully see you later!

Greece!

I am totally obsessed lately with Mediterranean-style food. We've been talking pretty seriously about a Greek Isles honeymoon, and after the trip we'll probably opt for the "relaxing" instead of "adventure" trip. I have no idea how it started. I love Greek salads, balsamic vinegar, even Daphne's is good if not a little expensive for what you get.

A perfect evening for me would be:

  • Dinner at Open Sesame on 2nd Street. OK, it's Lebanese, but it's probably my favorite restaurant in the area.
  • Cruise 2nd Street stores. They have everything from the Gap to really unique stores you'd expect to find in Southern California. There's a store on one corner (I don't know the name) that always has such cute underwear in the window!
  • Get ice cream. I still want to try Pinkberry.
  • Take a quick trip to the beach, just to check it out.
Good news: this could actually happen! Well, once I get through the next couple of weeks. This weekend is pre-fall, next weekend is Labor Day, the Disneyland half marathon, packet pickup, and the first SC football game. Plus, I'm sure I'll have homework!!

Full Time?

I was talking to a friend of mine (who was helping me with an assignment, and deserves a lovely gift) who mentioned there are people who blog full time - that's their job. I doubt blogging will become a full time job for me, but I enjoy doing it as much as I enjoy reading others' blogs.

Also today, I was talking to a friend of mine at work about Etsy. We have a lot in common in that she likes to design and make things also - although, she actually has a little time to do it! I suggested she set up shop on Etsy ... but the more I thought about it ... why don't I?

That could make for a lovely existence.

Things to do

I'm a pretty busy girl. I'm also fond of to-do lists, and have a million of them. These to-do lists usually keep me from keeping up with the people I'd like to keep in touch with, so I blog. And, being inspired by some other fantastic blogs, I want to play!

To start, here is the "life" to-do list:

  1. Finish the MBA.
  2. Get married!
  3. Move to LA.
  4. Work.
  5. Hang out with friends (more).
  6. Take advantage of all the things to see and to in LA.
  7. Keep a fabulous home. Or apartment, as the case may be.
There's more, I'm sure. But this is just the start. To come: a little story about our most recent trip. Which will probably be precluded by six straight days of class.
